Career Fair @ Tifton

TIFTON, GA. -- The 2015 Community Career Resource Fair in Tifton, held Thursday, October 29, could have been the opportunity many local job hunters are looking for to get a jump start on their path to employment.

Nearly 40 local businesses and industries assembled at Southern Regional Technical College’s (SRTC) Tifton Campus in the Clarence Smith Conference Center for the fair as the College and the Georgia Department of Labor joined forces to create an event designed to familiarize local businesses and industries in and around our region with job seekers.

The event, which was open to the public as well as all SRTC students and graduates, attracted 120 job seekers. Attendees benefitted from learning about local companies and what skills they would expect their employees to possess, regardless of whether or not they have any current vacancies. In turn, businesses may find matches for future employment.

“The Community Career Fair gives area employers an opportunity to meet potential employees in our region, as well as from Southern Regional Technical College. The fair provides an avenue for our students to transition into the workforce seamlessly upon graduation,” says SRTC Career Services Coordinator Dana Lewis.

Employers represented at this year’s event included the Albany Police Department, Avon Products, Coastal Plain Area EOA Headstart, Colquitt EMC, Comfort Keepers, Frost Virtual Solutions, Georgia Air National Guard, Georgia Forestry Commission, Georgia Premier Services, Great Clips, Knack Tek, Labor Finders, McDonalds, Mediacom Communication, Merchants Food Service, Metropower, Microf, Moultrie Police Department, New Hire Solutions, Quality Employment Services, Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia, Right from the Start Medicaid, Sam’s Club, Sayles Unlimited Marketing and Sayles Unlimited Health Promotions, Telamon Corporation, Tender Care, Thompson Tractor Company, Tift County Board of Education, Tift County Library, Tift Regional Health System, TriEst Ag Group, Turning Point Care Center, U.S. Army, Wellcare of Georgia, and Wild Adventures Theme Park.
