Dueling Pianos Returns to Colquitt County

Posted on

On the evening of Saturday, July 28th, The Foundation at Southern Regional Technical College is thrilled to present Pianos in Paradise: A Dueling Pianos event in the conference center on the Moultrie campus of Southern Regional Technical College. Featuring the wildly talented Andrews Brothers, Dueling Pianos is a fun-filled musical party. Astoundingly, the Andrews Brothers know well over 1500 songs. Each song that they play throughout the evening is requested by guests, making the audience a part of the show. All song requests will be in the form of donations to SRTC’s Foundation, which annually provides over $100,000 in scholarships to students in the seven counties that SRTC currently serves.

Guests are encouraged to bring cash, check, and credit or debit cards to ensure their favorite tunes are performed. Those familiar with the Savannah Smiles piano bar in Savannah, Georgia will have an idea of why the Foundation’s board of trustees are so enthusiastic about bringing this high-energy live music event back to Moultrie, Ga.

Along with musical entertainment, the SRTC Foundation will be showcasing outstanding alumni from the community with a special presentation. The Foundation is currently seeking out candidates for the Distinguished Alumni Award which have excelled since they graduated from Southern Regional Technical College, or from the former Moultrie Technical or Southwest Georgia Technical Colleges. Graduates from any year are eligible for the award. Members of the community may nominate a former SRTC student, and alumni may self-nominate as well become part of the SRTC Alumni Association for free by visiting http://southernregional.edu/alumni-network. All stories must be submitted by July 10th, 2018.

The first priority of Southern Regional Technical College’s Foundation is to support and enhance student learning through scholarships, college activities, and community involvement. Brittany McInvale, Director of Resource Development, is excited that this event will be returning to Moultrie for the second year, saying, “Last year’s Dueling Pianos event was an incredibly fun and successful fundraiser! Over $26,000 was raised in just one night for the students of SRTC. We’re excited to give the people of Colquitt County and beyond another opportunity to celebrate the successes of SRTC Alumni, and to show their support for our current students. We are anticipating another fantastic night of fun, friends, and fundraising!”

Pianos in Paradise will begin at 6pm, and the entertainment will go on until 11pm. Tickets include coastal cuisine and beverages, and at just $60 per person or $100 per couple, space should fill up quickly. Tickets and sponsorships are available now at southernregional.edu/duelingpianos.
