Jason Jacobs

Recently, The Foundation of Southern Regional Technical College recognized the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award Winners during the foundation’s first annual Dueling Pianos event in Moultrie, Georgia. Those recognized were Meghan McBride, Phalyn Murphy, and Jason Jacobs. This short series of articles has introduced readers to the three distinguished alumni, who each began their career as a student at SRTC. Previously, we met doctoral candidate Meghan McBride and US Army veteran, Phalyn Murphy. Today, we’re proud to introduce you to the final Distinguished Alumni for 2017, Mr. Jason Jacobs.

When Jason Jacobs was preparing to graduate from Colquitt County High School, he already knew what he wanted out of his career. Working in the medical field to provide excellent care for people was his goal, even at a young age. Jason evaluated the Respiratory Therapy programs at Georgia State University, the Medical College of Georgia, and Southwest Georgia Technical College in Thomasville. Focused on quality, efficiency, and value, he ultimately selected Southwest Georgia Technical College (now Southern Regional Technical College.) Jason later completed a Bachelor’s degree in Organization Leadership at LaGrange College and, finally, a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Troy University.

Since starting a family, Jason has been dedicated to ensuring that his career that would provide for his busy household, while allowing him to make a positive impact on his children’s lives. Early in his career, he served as a staff Registered Respiratory Therapist at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Jason then went on to hold various leadership roles within Colquitt Regional before subsequently leaving to pursue other professional goals. His brand of focus, commitment, and hard work has not gone unnoticed, least of all by his five children that he has with his beautiful wife, Kimberly. If you happen to run into this jet-setter while he’s in town, you will invariably see him surrounded by a bunch of great-looking, polite and happy young people. And if you are in a conversation with him for more than 5 minutes, the pride that he has in all five of his children becomes very apparent. One of his sons, George Jacobs, recently articulated his father’s influence on their family. From his vantage point, George observed that his dad’s work ethic and drive have made him a great role model, both for his children, and for others who have the good fortune to work with him. He speaks of his father’s big heart, his selflessness, and his passion for his work. However, George says, “out of all his accomplishments, I personally think his greatest accomplishment is being a great father.”

During the last ten years, Jason has held senior executive positions in a variety of publicly traded and private equity funded global organizations. Some of his key professional accomplishments include serving as the Vice President and General Manager of Life Sciences for Chart Industries, as a strategy advisor to the Global Health Informatics executive team for ResMed, and as an advisor to the executive team of a healthcare and energy private equity firm. His work has taken him all over the world; and his insights into the complicated world of healthcare have lead him to his most recent venture, as the Chief Operating Officer and Founding Partner of VirtueRN, a cloud-based technology solutions provider. “I have long understood that the delivery of healthcare was highly fragmented. At VirtueRN, our cloud based workflow solution solves the very problems created by this. We enable healthcare organizations to easily manage their complex contractual relationships.” Inspired and motivated by his family, Jason Jacobs has spent his career finding innovative ways to provide excellent health care, both on a local and international scale. We are honored that he chose to start here.
