SRTC to Host Community-wide Career Fair

Organizers of the upcoming 2016 Community Career Resource Fair scheduled to be held in Moultrie on Thursday, March 24, say they hope the event will be a catalyst in transitioning local job hunters into members of a viable workforce.

An estimated 50 local businesses and industries will assemble in the Southwest Georgia Bank Conference Center at Southern Regional Technical College’s (SRTC) Veterans Parkway location from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for the 2016 Community Career Resource Fair.

SRTC and the Moultrie office of the Georgia Department of Labor will join forces to present the event to familiarize the businesses and industries in our region and job hunters with one another.

The event is open to the public as well as all SRTC students and graduates.  Whether or not employers have jobs to offer at this time, job seekers will benefit from learning about local companies and what skills they would expect their employees to possess. In turn, businesses may find matches for future employment. Industries expected to be at the fair include healthcare, industrial manufacturing, sales and banking, among others.

“Southern Regional Technical College’s Spring Semester ends May 3, therefore, businesses and industries will have the opportunity to meet the College’s graduating class as well as upcoming summer semester graduates. If an employer finds a good fit for an employment need, our well-trained, educated graduates will be ready to start work within a few weeks of the career fair,” says Dana Lewis, SRTC Career Services Coordinator.

Additionally, all job seekers are encouraged to bring updated resumes and all information necessary to complete job applications on site. Furthermore, to create a positive impact on employers, Lewis urges participants to “make a great first impression; consider this the first interview with a future employer,” and to come dressed in business professional attire.

Because this is a professional event and space is limited, Lewis says no children or strollers will be permitted.

Among the employers expected to participate in the fair are Air Pro Heating and Cooling, Ambassador Personnel, Avon Products, Coastal Plain Area EOA, Inc., Colquitt County Serenity House, Comfort Keepers, Convergys, Delta Life Insurance, Direct Life Services, ESG Operation, Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Georgia Department of Corrections and Autry State Prison, the Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia Premier Services, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, H & R Block, Labor Finders of Tifton, Lowe’s, Merchants Foodservice, Moultrie YMCA, National Beef, New Hire Solutions, Papa Johns, Quality Employment Service, Sam’s Club, Southeast Corrections, Southwest Georgia Bank, Telamon Corporation, Tift Regional Health System, Troy University, Turning Point Care Center, Verizon, and many more.

Admission and parking for the career fair is free. For more details about the 2016 Community Career Resource Fair, contact SRTC Career Services Coordinator Dana Lewis at dlewis@southernregional.edu.
