Program Description: Program Description: The E-Learning Design and Development Specialist certificate program provides entry-level training to obtain skills required to teach in an e-learning environment. This program was developed locally by faculty of Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC), and is still the only program of its kind offered in Georgia. SRTC offers the E-Learning Design & Development Specialist program for:

Educators – at any level, who want to learn how to convert and organize their instructional content used in a traditional face-to-face setting into a format which is conducive to learning by students at a distance via the Internet. Georgia Certified Teachers can earn up to 11 PLU Credits while completing this program!

Administrators – who want to gain a better understanding of how instructional and/or informative content can be delivered effectively in an e-learning environment, and

Business and industry trainers and professionals – who want to learn how to effectively communicate their instruction or informational message to customers at a distance via the Internet.

Student Learning Outcomes:
•  Students will identify instructional strategies appropriate for achieving specific course competencies in an e-learning environment.
•  Students will identify instructional technologies appropriate for encouraging and facilitating learner engagement needed for achieving specific course competencies.
•  Students will create and upload course content items (including informational elements, Instructional Objects, Assignments, and Assessments) into an approved course management system.

Age: Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.

Education: An applicant must be a high school graduate or the equivalent (GED).  College transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Advisor: A advisor will be assigned by admissions.

Program Exit Point: E-Learning Design and Development Specialist, Technical Certificate of Credit.

Credits Required for Graduation: 11 minimum semester hours credits required for graduation.
