President Craig Wentworth, Ed.D.
Dr. Craig Wentworth has served as President of Southern Regional Technical College since November 2010. During that time, Dr. Wentworth led the college in its full merger and subsequent accreditation as the new two-year institution. Under his leadership, the college opened a new 52,000 square foot Health Science Building which houses a virtual hospital and fully functioning veterinary clinic. Additionally, three other buildings went through significant renovations and upgrades. Dr. Wentworth has over 35 years’ experience in the postsecondary/higher education field, 27 of those years with two-year colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia. Prior to becoming president, he was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon, Georgia for seven years. He has also served in academic administrative positions as Director of Instruction and Dean of Academic Affairs. During his tenure at Central Georgia Technical College, the institution grew from 1000 credit program students to over 7900 students and from 30 credit programs to over 190 associate degree, postsecondary diploma, and technical certificate programs. Dr. Wentworth also has college admissions, coaching, and teaching experience. Dr. Wentworth received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Psychology from Valdosta State University and a Doctor of Education degree in Occupational Studies from the University of Georgia in which he received the Delta Pi Epsilon (national graduate honor society) Outstanding Doctoral Research Award.
