SRTC Sponsors Local Ballerinas

Posted on

We are proud to sponsor three talented local dancers who have participated in the South Georgia Ballet’s Step UP program! Step UP is an Outreach Educational Program offering free weekly dance instruction to over 100 at-risk youth, ages six to twelve, through partnerships with community youth organizations in Southwest Georgia. By teaming up with SRTC, SGB is able to offer scholarships to high school dancers who excel in those weekly classes to join the SGB School and SGB Company.

SRTC’s $5000 sponsorship will enable Shanice Madison (pictured), Aniya Morris (not pictured), and Caliyah Sinkfield (pictured) to continue dancing their way through high school. Dancers receive scholarships for the entirety of their time with SGB.

SGB’s Associate Executive Director Kathleen Ewing said, “All Step UP Scholarship recipients face financial barriers to extracurricular activities. SRTC’s partnership with South Georgia Ballet removes those barriers and takes the pressure off of our dancers and their families knowing they can continue to pursue their passion for dance through their high school careers and time with SGB.”
