SRTC Locations to Reopen With Precautions

In anticipation of the 2020 fall semester, which begins August 18, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) will begin reopening campus locations in phases. Beginning July 6, current and prospective students will be invited to make appointments on the SRTC website for face-to-face meetings with admissions, financial aid, career services, the registrar’s office, student accounts, library services, and tutoring representatives.

On July 20, all SRTC campuses and sites will reopen to the public. To ensure prompt service and safe social distancing, students will still be encouraged to make appointments to meet with SRTC personnel prior to coming to campus.

“I want to reassure each of you that we are doing everything we can to keep our students and employees safe as we work to get back to some sense of normalcy,” said President Jim Glass. “Our maintenance and custodial staff have been back full-time working diligently to ensure all high traffic areas are disinfected throughout the day, installing Plexiglas in high traffic areas, and hand sanitizer stations at entrances/exits.”

In addition to increased sanitation efforts on all campuses, Glass said that faculty and staff are filling out a COVID-19 tracking form every day that they are on campus. Everyone spending time on campus will be expected to adhere to social distancing, handwashing, and mask wearing as recommended by the Center for Disease Control. Faculty, staff, students and visitors will be encouraged to wear masks when social distancing is not possible. When meeting with staff or faculty members, masks will be available on request for visitors if they do not have one.

Anyone who becomes ill, experiences possible symptoms of COVID-19, or is exposed to a person who is confirmed to be COVID-19 positive must notify his or her supervisor or instructor immediately, and it must be reported to the SRTC Exposure Control Coordinator. SRTC has protocols in place to handle any individual who becomes ill or has possibly been exposed on campus.

“I have been encouraged by the remarkable resilience of our College community throughout this pandemic,” said Glass. “Our faculty, staff, and students have all put in the work to make spring and summer semesters successful, and we are gearing up for a great fall.”
