Each year, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) celebrates industry partners by nominating local businesses for the Manufacturer of the Year award. This year, in conjunction with Manufacturing Appreciation Week (MAW), the SRTC-Bainbridge Economic Development Division proudly nominated John B. Sanfilippo & Son (JBSS) for the prestigious award.
John B. Sanfilippo & Son been in business for over 30 years, and currently has a local economic impact of more than $130,000 annually. Their commitment to supporting the local community includes involvement with local schools, the Salvation Army, the United Way, Shriner’s Hospital, a Bainbridge High School scholarship program, literacy programs, and taking part in Ag Appreciation Day. In addition, Sanfilippo is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce.
“Since 1986, John B. Sanfilippo & Son has played a vital role in Agriculture for the Bainbridge area and the Southwest region of the state. Sanfilippo holds a terrific business model based on providing a quality product that is beneficial to consumers both locally and abroad,” commented Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner, Gary Black.
MAW was developed by the Technical College System of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Economic Development in an effort to recognize the manufacturing industry throughout the state. Nominees are invited to the Governor’s Awards Luncheon in the spring of each year. The highlight of the luncheon, held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Georgia, was the presentation of the twenty-fifth annual Manufacturer of the Year Awards, given to companies in small, medium and large manufacturer categories.
