Workforce Development Hybrid Training

The Economic Development division is now offering several continuing education opportunities to help you advance in today’s workforce.

Available hybrid course options include:

Bookkeeping Professional with QuickBooks – $1,699

The Bookkeeper for any particular business plays one of the most important roles in the company working very closely with management in the day-to-day operation of the business. Bookkeepers that have a full understanding of the most widely-used accounting application for small businesses – QuickBooks – have a significant role to play in any business as their records underpin the files provided to any associated accounting professionals working on behalf of the business. This program takes students through the ins and outs baseline accounting principles, bookkeeping and overall record keeping relative to successful small business accounting. QuickBooks training will ensure that students can operate successfully within the most-widely used accounting software application and provide associated accounting professionals with the files necessary for tax preparation and/or support.

Childcare Specialist – $1,699

This program introduces the historical, theoretical and developmental foundations for educating and caring for young children. With particular emphasis on caring for children from birth through age 8, this program takes students through a range of topics including the roles, responsibilities and requirements of individuals working in early childhood settings, current issues that have implications on children, families and early childhood professionals, and age-related developmental accomplishments. Alongside ensuring the health, safety and well-being of all children in their care, this program will ensure students have a firm grasp on the educational and developmental needs of young children in order to create a stimulating, nurturing and fun environment.

Dental Assistant – $1,599

This course prepares students for entry-level positions as a chairside dental assistant. This course covers the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, oral anatomy, dental operatory, tooth structures, primary and permanent teeth, the oral cavity, and other areas. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program.

ICD-10 CM Medical Coding – $1,499

Medical coding professionals keep records, calculate patient charges, and review files. This ICD-10-CM resource reviews key elements of the changes from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM and examines the impact of this change on the U.S. healthcare system.

Pharmacy Technician – $1,299

This comprehensive course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes pharmacy medical terminology, pharmacy calculations, reading and interpreting prescriptions, defining generic and brand names drugs and much, much more! Pharmacy Technicians may work in retail pharmacies, mail order pharmacies, home infusion pharmacies, long term care facilities, hospitals, clinics, pharmacy benefit managers and large industrial complexes. This high demand is the result of the constant availability of new drugs, the national shortage of registered pharmacists, the establishment of certified pharmacy technicians and the aging population.

Photography Professional with Adobe Photoshop – $1,299

The photography industry is expected to grow 3% from 2014 to 2024. The photography professional can use their great communication skills, excellent eye for detail and technical expertise to help their business advance. The photography entrepreneur can expect to obtain clients in their own town, however, willingness to travel makes way for more opportunity and a larger clientele. Photography Professionals require a variety of business and communication skills over and above the artistic skills of a photographer. Opportunities will continue to grow for Photography Professionals as they continue to sharpen their business skills with marketing, sales and advertising in order to land more projects from weddings and special events, to portraits and specialty shoots. Photographer professionals often work within a specialized niche and market their services to specific target markets. This course covers the basics of becoming a photographer, setting up a photography business and developing retouching and artistic skills that enhance your images using Adobe Photoshop.

Six Sigma Black Belt – $1,699

The Six Sigma Professional program is designed for high-performance employees and leaders of business improvement projects. The Six Sigma Black Belt course presents an overview of the key concepts for the Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (CSSBB) exam. Students will explore processes and team management, operational metrics, and key tools and techniques to achieve process excellence. This course is designed to prepare students to sit for the CSSBB offered by the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Six Sigma Green Belt – $1,699

The Six Sigma Specialist program helps professionals to strengthen organizations by employing the core concepts of Six Sigma geared toward enhanced problem-solving skills with an emphasis on the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) model. The Six Sigma Specialist program presents an overview of the key concepts for the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification exam (CSSGB). Students will explore processes and team management, operational metrics, and key tools and techniques to achieve process excellence. This program is designed to prepare students to sit for the CSSGB exam offered by the ASQ.

Teacher’s Aide – $1,699

Teacher’s Aides are essential to the effective management and flow of classrooms for early childhood education. This program introduces the historical, theoretical and developmental foundations for educating young children and designing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum in order to provide the primary teacher with the most help possible. This particular program focuses on development of children from birth through age 8, the roles, responsibilities and requirements in early childhood classrooms as well as curriculum development allowing Teacher’s to help cultivate a creative, caring and nurturing environment for young children.
