SRTC Student Organizations Attend Georgia Spring Leadership Conference

Students from Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) showcased their exceptional skills at the Georgia Spring Leadership Conference in Atlanta on March 26-29. Members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate, the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), and the Georgia Student Government Association (GSGA) chapters participated in leadership training workshops and competitive events, bringing home multiple awards.

SRTC's FBLA Collegiate chapter representatives earned impressive results:

  • Micaela Miley of Alapaha won first place in Computer Applications and fourth place in Project Management
  • Megan Patel of Camilla won first place in Hospitality Management and third place in Organizational Behavior and Leadership. She also served as an FBLA Intern for the weekend.
  • Joshua Spear of Norman Park won first place in Foundations of Technology. He also competed in Computer Applications
  • Kyle (David) Long of Thomasville won second place in Foundations of Computer Science and fourth place in Cybersecurity
  • Kaitlyn Wisham of Moultrie won second place in Foundations of Management and fifth place in Foundations of Technology
  • Ra'Brecia Elliot of Albany won third place in Sports Management & Marketing. She also competed in Foundations of Marketing
  • Reather Venable of Cairo won third place in Foundations of Accounting and fifth place in Computer Applications
  • Angela Alexander of Tifton competed in Foundations of Hospitality Management and Customer Service
  • Jerusalen Arellano of Sylvester competed in Business Ethics and Emerging Business Issues
  • Erick Drury of Thomasville competed in Foundations of Communications and Foundations of Economics
  • Wilson Petithomme of Moultrie competed in Foundations of Management and Public Speaking

FBLA first-place winners who qualify will have the opportunity to represent SRTC at the National FBLA Collegiate Conference and Competition in Las Vegas, NV, this June.

Other notable successes for the students and chapters include:

  • Johanna Martinez-Camacho of Tifton served as a state officer this past year for NTHS and finished up her year at the conference.
  • Micaela Miley and Reather Venable received Who's Who Awards, nominated by their advisors for their work in the local chapters.
  • Reather Venable received the Wings of Excellence Award for her community service, chapter involvement, and work in her chapter.
  • The Thomasville FBLA Chapter received the Silver Chapter of Excellence.

"I was incredibly proud watching our students represent SRTC at the Georgia Spring Leadership Conference," said SRTC Campus Director KaCee Holt. "These events allow our advisors to network and learn while our students develop leadership skills, build professional confidence, and connect with peers across the state.”
