SRTC Okta Access Guide

Overview

Students can access all SRTC services through the SRTC Okta website, which serves as a centralized portal. Okta provides links to various applications including Blackboard, Ellucian Experience, email, and other institutional resources. Once logged into Okta, users can click on any application to access it automatically without additional login credentials.

Initial Security Setup

First-time Okta users must configure security identifiers, with security questions and Okta Verify being mandatory.

The Okta Verify app is required for push notification authentication:

Users can modify account settings by clicking their name within the Okta portal and selecting "Settings."


Setting Up Okta Verify on iOS for an Existing SRTC Account

Begin on your computer:

  1. Users navigate their web browser to MySRTC at southernregional.edu
  2. Click the MySRTC link at the top of the page
  3. Enter SRTC email address and password

  1. When prompted to setup security questions, click "Setup" to continue

  1. Select a question and provide an answer.

Now is the time to configure Okta Verify authenticator. This is also a required step.

  1. Ensure Okta Verify is selected
  1. Click Set up

  1. Follow the onscreen instructions until you see a QR code on your computer screen.
  2. Don’t close the web browser. You will need the QR code in a few steps.

Switch to your Apple iOS device:

  1. Launch the App Store and search for “Okta Verify”
  2. Select the app and tap on the “Get” button to download and install

  1. Open Okta Verify and click the blue “Add Account” button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. When prompted to choose account type, select "Organization"

  1. Skip the "Add Account from Another Device" prompt if it appears
  2. When asked "Do you have your QR code?", tap the blue "Yes, Ready to Scan" button

  1. Point the iPhone camera at the QR code on the computer screen, framing it within the white square
  1. If prompted to enable biometric identification (Touch ID or Face ID), click the blue "Enable" button

  1. After "Account Added" confirmation appears, press the blue "Done" button
  1. The auth.srtc.edu account window will display on the Okta Verify main screen

Authentication Options with Okta Verify

After setup completion, users can choose between two verification methods for subsequent logins:

  1. Push Notification: The Okta Verify app sends a notification to the user's mobile device, requiring confirmation by tapping "Yes, It's Me" for automatic login completion.
  2. Manual Code Entry: Users open the Okta Verify app, tap the eye icon to reveal a 6-digit code, and enter this code into the computer login prompt.
