Federal Reporting Requirements for HEERF I

Funds Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) received an additional grant signed and returned the Recipient’s Funding Certification and Agreement Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act on 04/22/2020. SRTC intends to use the funds to provide the mandated amount of at least 50% of the emergency financial aid grants to students.

SRTC is due to receive $3,604,074.00 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

SRTC has identified 1901 students who meet the criteria to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

Students who were enrolled spring semester as of March 13th, met eligibility requirements, and were not enrolled exclusively online were selected to receive an emergency grant. To determine how much grant money each student would receive, SRTC applied the model for distribution based on credit hour enrollment already in use by Title IV regulations. Under this model, students will receive a minimum of $320 for 5 or less credit hours enrolled during Spring semester. This amount increases incrementally by $300 as credit hour thresholds are met with a maximum possible distribution of $1,220 for 12 or more credit hours enrolled.

In an effort to ensure students were aware of the emergency grant, and to be as transparent as possible, the following communications have been provided to students, or made available on example college’s website.

As of October 31, 2020, SRTC has successfully distributed a total of $1,838,997 to 1897 students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

Federal Reporting Requirements for HEERF II Funds

Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) received an additional grant from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriates Act (CRRSA Act) in January 2021. SRTC intends to use the funds to provide the mandatory dollar amount to be spent on student grants as required to spend under the CRRSA Act (HEERF II).

SRTC received $8,001,867.00 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

SRTC has identified 2,626 students who meet the criteria to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 314(c) of the CRRSA Act. Students who were enrolled spring semester as of January 7, 2021 and met eligibility requirements were selected to receive a grant. Ineligible students include foreign and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). Additionally, high school students and those students who were default on student loans were also excluded. To determine the amount of grant money each student would receive, SRTC determined financial need as demonstrated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as enrollment hours. Under this model, students received a minimum of $285.00 for a 1+ estimated family contribution (EFC) as a part-time student. This amount increased incrementally by $285.00 as EFC decreased and enrollment hours increased with a maximum possible distribution of $1,140.00.

In an effort to ensure students were aware of the emergency grant, and to be as transparent as possible, the following communications have been provided to students, and made available on college website.

As of March 25, 2021, SRTC has successfully distributed a total of $1,841,030.00 to 2,626 students under the CRRSA Act.

Federal Reporting Requirements for HEERF III Funds

Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) received a third grant from The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) on May 11, 2021. SRTC intends to use the funds to provide the mandated amount of at least 50% of the emergency financial aid grants to students.

SRTC received $6,665,747 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. SRTC will distribute these funds for the summer 2021, fall 2021, and spring 2022 semesters. To determine the amount of grant money each student would receive, SRTC determined financial need as demonstrated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as enrollment hours. Under this model, students received a minimum of $700.00 for a 1+ estimated family contribution (EFC) as a part-time student. This amount increased incrementally by $200.00 as EFC decreased and enrollment hours increased with a maximum possible distribution of $1,300.00.

SRTC has identified all students who meet the criteria to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. .

Summer Semester 2021: Students who were enrolled this semester as of May 13, 2021 and met eligibility requirements were selected to receive a grant. Ineligible students include high school students, transient students, and those students who were default on student loans were excluded. In an effort to ensure students were aware of the emergency grant, and to be as transparent as possible, the following communications have been provided to students, or made available on college’s website.

As of August 4, 2021, SRTC has successfully distributed a total of $1,348,400 to 2085 students.

Fall Semester 2021: Students who were enrolled this semester as of August 23, 2021 and met eligibility requirements were selected to receive a grant. Ineligible students include high school students, transient students, and those students who were default on student loans were excluded. In an effort to ensure students were aware of the emergency grant, and to be as transparent as possible, the following communications have been provided to students, or made available on college’s website.

Ineligible students include high school students, transient students, and those students who were default on student loans were excluded. In an effort to ensure students were aware of the emergency grant, and to be as transparent as possible, the following communications have been provided to students, or made available on college’s website. SRTC determined financial need as demonstrated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as enrollment hours. Under this model, students during this semester received a minimum of $250.00 for a 1+ estimated family contribution (EFC) as a part-time student. This amount increased incrementally by $200.00 as EFC decreased and enrollment hours increased with a maximum possible distribution of $850.00.
