On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized seven graduating Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Tifton honoring their achievements.
The graduating Central Sterile Supply Processing cohort includes Accica Bailey, Alexis Bateman, Latasha Byrd, Jessica Henderson, David Poole, and Alexa Quiroga.
The Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician program is designed to provide entry-level training that will prepare graduates to function in the sterile supply processing and distribution areas of healthcare facilities. The program is based on a combination of theory and clinical instruction, applying scientific principles to the specific work area. Through theory classes with laboratory participatory components, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary for clinical application in healthcare settings. The program's academic and practical experiences provide students with the preparation needed to be eligible to sit for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification exam.
“I am very proud of the first class of Central Sterile graduates,” said Wesley Luke, Central Sterile Processing Faculty, “They all took to the program with enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. These graduates have demonstrated the dedication necessary to enter the workforce as Central Sterile Processing Technicians or continue their education. I am excited to see them embark on their careers in this important healthcare field.”
