Person holding paintingSouthern Regional Technical College’s Economic Development Division is pleased to announce an Introduction to Painting (Acrylic) course with artist Kris Young. The 4-day class will be held at the SRTC-Bainbridge Student Wellness Center on March 5, 7, 12, and 14, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Instructor Kris Young began painting in his teen years. At that young age, his middle school art teacher recognized his artistic talent. Later, he was accepted to the Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts, a fine arts magnet school for students in grades six through twelve. It was there that he further developed his talent.

For those interested in painting, Young suggests experimenting as much as possible. “Simply take the brush to canvas and see what can be created. I learn every day by mistakes,” he stated. “You just have to work at it. Practice as much as possible.”

Young practices every chance he gets. He can be seen perfecting on his craft whenever he can find a spare moment. Much of his artwork can be seen on display at the Student Wellness Center (SRTC- Bainbridge) Bookstore.

Introduction to Painting is open for the community to participate. The cost of the 4-day art class is $50 with supplies included.
