December 2023 graduates from Southern Regional Technical College’s (SRTC) Practical Nursing (PN) program in Moultrie achieved a 100% passage rate on their National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The NCLEX-PN exam is a standardized exam that each PN graduate must pass to obtain a license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Mackenzie Attebury, Bayley Bennett, Shekia Jackson, Emily Law, Citlaly Maldonado, Tamizah Mathis, Monica Mobley, Shari Palmer, Jabreaille Wheeler, and Lynnete Zarinana Ortega completed coursework during the 2023 fall semester.
Each graduate passed their board exam on the first attempt. This 100% first-attempt pass rate is a major accomplishment for this program and its students, as that percentage is well above the national average for nursing programs.
Through academic and occupational coursework, the PN program prepares graduates to give competent nursing care. Through these courses, students learn techniques and gain knowledge to provide competent care. Various clinical experiences, under the guidance of the clinical instructor, are integrated into the curriculum so that theory is put into practice. Program graduates receive a practical nursing diploma and have the qualifications of an entry-level practical nurse.
“I am incredibly proud of our Practical Nursing graduates for achieving a 100% first-attempt pass rate on the NCLEX-PN,” says Dean for Nursing, Bobbie Hester, RN, MSN. “This accomplishment is a testament to their hard work and dedication. I am confident that they will go on to provide exceptional care as Licensed Practical Nurses.”
