The Economic Development Division at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) is excited to announce the addition of POUND: Rockout Workout to its 2019 Summer Continuing Education schedule.
Classes will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday during the month of May, June (excluding the first week), and August. To better accommodate the busy schedule of the community, classes will take place after work from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the upstairs aerobics room of the Student Wellness Center at SRTC - Bainbridge. POUND uses weighted drumsticks and music to provide a fun workout that combines cardio, strength, training, and Pilates. It is structured for all shapes, sizes, and levels of fitness.
“POUND is a workout for everyone who wants to have a good time while working up a sweat,” said Jan Thomas, POUND Instructor. Five years ago, Thomas became involved with POUND. “I had never heard of it before and exercising using drumsticks intrigued me,” she said. After her first class, Thomas was hooked.
Earlier this year, she took her love for POUND a step further and became a certified POUND instructor. She commented that it the only workout class that she has ever been able to consistently attend. “The main reason that I have enjoyed it is the camaraderie and friendships that I have made over the years, along with the fact I feel great after a super workout. It keeps me motivated and provides me with the opportunity to meet and get to know new people while improving both my physical and mental health.”
The class is open to men and women of all ages. Rates are $50 per month or $8 per session.
