RN Program at SRTC Granted Full Accreditation through 2025

On April 6, 2018 the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) granted Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) full continuing accreditation through 2025. This decision was approved following an accreditation team site visit and comes on the heels of the implementation of two new instructional sites in Moultrie and Tifton.

“It is a tremendous accomplishment for the nursing program and our College as a whole to receive full accreditation from ACEN through Fall 2025. This achievement would not be possible without the support of administration, faculty, and staff at SRTC. I feel like our nursing faculty are among the best in the state, and their passion for the students they each shows every day in the classroom and clinical setting. Our successful site visit and subsequent continued accreditation is a testament to their dedication to the nursing program and to SRTC,” commented Tammy Bryant, SRTC ASN Program Chair.

The accreditation team, comprised of educators, scholars, and industry professionals, based their deliberations on the SRTC self-study report, academic catalog, site visit report, and the recommendation for accreditation proposed by the peer evaluators and the evaluation review panel.

The subsequent report cited SRTC’s strong programmatic leadership and clinical affiliations with Archbold Memorial Hospital, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, and Tift Regional Medical Center as significant areas of strength. It was also noted that each of those clinical affiliates funds a full-time nursing faculty salary.

“We are very proud of our Associate of Science Degree in Nursing faculty and students in the significant achievement of our program receiving continuing ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) program accreditation. Gaining that accreditation involved a rigorous process and shows the very high quality of instruction and support services our college provides. The hard work and commitment by our faculty, staff, and students that resulted in this accomplishment has not gone unnoticed. We look forward to continuing the teaching and training of highly skilled RNs for the communities we serve,” commented Dr. Craig Wentworth, President of Southern Regional Technical College.

This continued accreditation is further confirmation to current and prospective students that the SRTC ASN program is continuing to evolve their nursing curriculum as mandated by industry standards, which, in turn, fosters excellence by ensuring the program is meeting quality standards. Accreditation carries many other benefits, such as opening the gateway for students to participate in state and federal entitlement programs, enhancing recruitment of potential nursing students, and increasing visibility in a competitive job market.
