As Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) grows its presence in Bainbridge, the college is making some of its facilities more accessible to the community. The Student Wellness Center of SRTC’s Bainbridge campus provides a state-of-the-art fitness center, gymnasium, suite of classrooms, meeting space, cafe, bookstore, game room, and common area for SRTC students, faculty, and staff. Student Wellness Center Coordinator, KaCee Holt, says that the school is committed to providing students with the best on-campus experience possible. “SRTC has a goal of providing comprehensive programs, services, activities and recruitment initiatives to promote student success. Part of the vision for SRTC is to provide state-of-the-art, well-maintained, and safe facilities for students, and ensure there is an optimal student-learning environment.” Across campus, The Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center offers an ideal location for meetings, presentations, receptions, weddings, conferences, concerts, and more.
Many areas of the Student Wellness Center and the Kirbo Center are available for use by community groups and individuals. These areas may be reserved by contacting KaCee Holt, Student Wellness Center Coordinator, by calling 229-243-3029 or Susanne Reynolds, Director of Economic Development, at 229-243-6980. Additionally, the Barnes & Noble Bookstore is open to the public from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm and offers a variety of gifts, apparel, accessories, electronics, and supplies, as well as textbooks. Just outside of the bookstore, the Millennium Cafe serves breakfast and lunch in a stylish food-court setting Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Beginning January 2019, the Student Wellness Center will expand the public’s access to the fitness center and gym. The school will offer three levels of membership for the SRTC Bainbridge campus workout areas: Associate, Alumni, and Community. The Associate Level will include currently active and enrolled students, full-time or part-time faculty of SRTC or ABAC-Bainbridge, SRTC Board Members, and SRTC Senior Ambassadors. These members may participate at no cost. The Alumni Level will include individuals who can show proof of graduation from SRTC, ABAC-Bainbridge, or Bainbridge State College. The Community Level will include family members of alumni (16 years or older), and any community member 18 years or older. There will also be a Community Family Membership option, which includes spouses and legal dependents at 16 or older, but not to exceed age 24.
Please note that children under 16 are not allowed in the fitness center or gym unless they are a current participant in the Dual Enrollment program of either Southern Regional Technical College or ABAC-Bainbridge.
