Southern Regional Technical College Students Compete at State Leadership Conference

Area students representing Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, the National TeArea students representing Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, the National Technical Honor Society, and Student Government Association recently attended the Georgia State Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. SRTC was represented by 15 students from three of the College’s chapters: Moultrie, Thomasville, Tifton. The participating students brought home a total of 20 competitive awards and numerous chapter honors.

Awards were presented as follows:

Luke Goodroe, Doerun, PBL - Tifton , 4th place in Help Desk, Tammie Holley, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, 3rd place in Retail Management and 3rd place in Justice Administration, Lavetta King, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, 3rd place in Administrative Technology and 3rd place in Microeconomics, Abrey Haines, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, 1st place in Cyber Security, Demarcus Jones, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, Felicia Smith, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, 1st place in Help Desk and 3rd place in Networking Concepts, Kiana Williams, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, 2nd place in Financial Concepts and 1st place in Financial Services, Courtney Draughon, Ty Ty, PBL – Tifton, 2nd place in Help Desk, Timothy Hodnett, Tifton, PBL – Tifton, 3rd place in Cyber Security, Brittany Daniels, PBL -Thomasville 1st place Human Resource Management and 3rd place Hospitality Management, Thomas Tran PBL–Thomasville, 4th place Networking Concepts, Cleveland Payne, PBL - Moultrie, 2nd place in Microeconomics and 4th place in Personal Finance, Tiffany Carruthers, PBL – Moultrie, 3rd place in Organizational Behavior, and Petrevious Farrell, PBL – Moultrie, 4th place in Impromptu Speaking, and 4th place in Community Service Project.

Of these students, Abrey Haines, Felicia Smith, and Kiana Williams of Tifton, and Brittany Daniels of Thomasville earned top prizes in their categories and will have the opportunity to advance and compete at the national level. Nationals will be held in San Antonio, Texas the week of June 23-27, 2019.

Additionally, Selena Tucker and Cleveland Payne were elected to be State Officers for the National Technical Honor Society during the Leadership Conference. They will be going to Officer training for NTHS at the end of May in order to determine which position they will hold.

Each of these students embodied SRTC with the utmost level of professionalism and I am extremely honored to be part of their success. All of us at SRTC wish our students the very best of luck as they head to Nationals this summer.
