On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized seven graduating Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Tifton honoring their achievements.
The graduating Central Sterile Supply Processing cohort includes Yasmin De Gouveia of Tifton, A’viana Escobedo of Sylvester, Jasmine Garmon of Tifton, Judy Medders of Sylvester, Angelo Ortiz of Tifton, Sandra Ramirez Perez of Bainbridge, and Tashambria Williams of Tifton.
The Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician program is designed to provide entry-level training that will prepare graduates to function in the sterile supply processing and distribution areas of healthcare facilities. The program is based on a combination of theory and clinical instruction, applying scientific principles to the specific work area. Through theory classes with laboratory participatory components, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary for clinical application in healthcare settings. The program's academic and practical experiences provide students with the preparation needed to be eligible to sit for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification exam.
"It's been remarkable to witness the growth of our second central sterile processing class, who made history as the first cohort to fully utilize our new Sterile Processing lab," said Wesley Luke, Central Sterile Processing Faculty. "Their engagement during lectures and willingness to ask questions demonstrated their commitment to mastering this critical healthcare skill. Each student has shown exceptional dedication to their learning journey and a genuine passion for continuing their professional development in this essential field."
