On the evening of March 11, 2024, the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) inducted 25 new members into the organization. The formal ceremony was held at SRTC-Thomasville. The 2024 Spring NTHS inductees included Ivy Hill of Attapulgus, Heather Marshall of Whigham, Jenni Hernandez of Moultrie, Samaria Crumpton of Valdosta, Shunquanettha Williams of Thomasville, Catherine Porter of Moultrie, Tristan Blair of Bainbridge, Patricia Garcia of Thomasville, Amanda Owens of Pavo, Sonalbahen Patel of Thomasville, Donna Folsom of Ochlocknee, Dedreonna Jenkins of Albany, Galilea Cervantes of Cairo, Anna Sherrer of Donalsonville, Scarlet Lawrence of Bainbridge, Jana Price of Bainbridge, Jazmine Quinones of Moultrie, Tequira Davis of Valdosta, Chad Wentworth of Ashburn, Kyra Kinsey of Norman Park, Olga Herrera of Tifton, Caleb Brunson of Moultrie, Jessica Tabares of Greensboro, Kaley Burgess of Moultrie, and Rachel McGuire of Thomasville.
Campus Director, KaCee Holt, said, "It is such an honor to see so many of our SRTC students excelling in our programs and being inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Through this organization, we have the opportunity to celebrate SRTC student academic achievements and recognize their commitment to their education, program, and communities. As a national organization, the purpose of NTHS is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, career development, and skilled workmanship. NTHS rewards meritorious achievement in technical education and assists technical students in their pursuit of educational and career goals. Nation-wide, NTHS works to develop a greater awareness within the American business, industry, and service communities about the talents and abilities of students engaged in technical education, and provides technical students with a greater awareness of the world of work.
Benefits of membership in NTHS include a diploma or certificate seal indicating membership, three letters of recommendation sent upon request to any business, industry, or educational institution where member applies, and an excellent resume entry denoting leadership and participation in a student organization. To maintain eligibility for membership, the student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
SRTC offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get graduates quickly into a desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of its students. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
