Recently, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) honored graduating Radiologic Technology students during their pinning ceremony at SRTC-Moultrie.
Eight students were recognized at the awards ceremony and received pins to mark the completion of their program requirements: Teyeshia N. Alford of Moultrie, Anna B. Buckner of Sylvester, Adam A. Collett of Moultrie, Brenda P. De Paz of Tifton, Taylor A. Jordan of Tifton, Tavia T. Peterson of Moultrie, Tori B. Reynolds of Moultrie and Haley L. Rittenhouse of Moultrie.
The Radiologic Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree Program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for positions in radiology departments and related businesses and industries. The Program emphasizes a combination of didactic and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an associate of applied science degree, have the qualifications of a Radiographer, and are eligible to sit for a national certification examination for Radiographers. Following the completion of core requirements, this program can be completed in four semesters.
From each graduating class, the program and partner clinical locations recognize several students for outstanding effort and achievement. Last week, Teyeshia Alford received the Clinical Excellence Award from Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Cathedral Award from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Star Student Award from Tift Regional Medical Center, and Perfect Attendance from the Radiologic Technology Program. Taylor Jordan received the Student of the Year Award from Brooks County Hospital and the Scholastic Award for the highest GPA in the program from Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Tori Reynolds received a Perfect Attendance Award for never missing a day of class or clinical.
Tarika Mitchell, Clinical Coordinator, commented, “We are very proud of the class of 2020. These students were determined to persevere despite the obstacles that they encountered this year. Well before graduation, each of these individuals had already secured job offers, a testament to their remarkable work during clinical rotations. We congratulate these radiologic technologists because they are truly champions of faith, heroism, and determination.”
In the coming weeks, seniors will sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam, and pending passage will be ready for careers as radiographers. These seniors were featured during SRTC’s virtual commencement ceremony, which was published on December 1, 2020.
SRTC offers over 155 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into a desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in Colquitt, Decatur, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Thomas, Tift, Turner and Worth counties for the convenience of its students.
