Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) is proud to announce that its first-ever Patient Care Technician/Assistant (PCT/A) graduating class has achieved a 100% pass rate on the Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPTC/A) exam.

Chanice Johnson, Sheryl Means, Tien Nichols, Macey Sheffield, and Liz Snyder completed their coursework and clinical requirements before successfully passing their certification exams on their first attempt. This milestone marks a significant accomplishment for SRTC's newest healthcare program.

"We are incredibly proud of our inaugural Patient Care Technician/Assistant class," said SRTC's Dean of Nursing Bobbie Hester, RN, MSN. "Their perfect pass rate on the certification exams demonstrates not only their individual commitment to excellence but also the quality of instruction provided by our faculty. These students have proven their proficiency in essential patient care skills and are well-prepared to make immediate contributions to healthcare settings across our region."

Throughout the program, students received comprehensive training in vital healthcare skills, including basic patient care, phlebotomy, EKG monitoring, and other essential clinical procedures. Notably, all students entering the PCT/A program must already be Certified Nurse Aides (CNA), providing them with a solid foundation of patient care knowledge upon which to build their advanced skills.

The success of this first PCT/A cohort establishes a strong foundation for the program, which was developed in response to the growing need for skilled healthcare professionals in Southwest Georgia. Patient Care Technicians/Assistants play a crucial role in the healthcare system by providing direct patient care under the supervision of nurses and other medical staff.

SRTC offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get you quickly into your desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of our students. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
