Electrical Lineworker (EL11) (460303) Technical Certificate of Credit
The Electrical Lineworker certificate program provides students with the necessary knowledge and skill to gain employment as an entry-level lineworker with electrical utility companies, both public and private. Topics include lineworker organization principles, lineworker workplace skills, lineworker automation skills, and line worker occupational skills. Utility companies have various physical and weight requirements and company administered tests prior to hiring.
Length of Program: One (1) Semester
Entrance Dates: Beginning of each semester.
Entrance Requirements: Candidates must hold a valid Class C drivers license.
Age: Applicant must be 17 years of age (provisional admission) and 18 years of age for (regular admission).
Advisor: A Program Advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course. An advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Program Final Exit Point: Electrical Lineworker, Technical Certificate of Credit
Credits Required for Graduation: 12 minimum semester hour credits required for graduation

Pre-requisite(s): Program Admission This course provides a comprehensive summary of lineworker requirements. Topic include physical and mechanical abilities, electrical and workplace safety practices, communication skills, and positive work ethic responsibilities. |

ELCR 1820Electrical Lineworker Workplace Skills
Pre-requisite(s): Program Admission This course will familiarize the student with the importance of working together and team building. Topics include basic tools in the problem solving process, change in the workplace, developing and maintaining a positive image, resume writing, and developing job interview skills. |

ELCR 1840Electrical Lineworker Automation Skills
Pre-requisite(s): Program Admission This course familiarizes the student with the identification, proper use, basic electrical fundamentals, and safety and maintenance of lineworker hand and power tools. Student will be prepared to operate hydraulic and pneumatic systems. |

ELCR 1860Electrical Lineworker Occupational Skills
Pre-requisite(s): Program Admission This course provides an introduction to the basic skills necessary for an electrical lineworker. Topis include understanding of ratios and proportions, blueprint reading, CSL training and testing, lineman simulations, and observation based instruction. |
