On August 1, 2019, the Office of Financial Aid at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) received notification that the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (GASFAA) had awarded a $1000 Memorial Scholarship to be granted to a currently enrolled student of SRTC. Southern Regional Technical College has been a member organization of GASFAA for over 15 years. GASFAA is a professional organization dedicated to the pursuit of providing educational and networking opportunities for financial aid administrators at post-secondary institutions and partner agencies to discuss current issues and legislation relating to financial aid programs. Currently, three scholarships are awarded annually to three member institutions.

SRTC selected Moultrie Nursing student Lori Sherling for the GASFAA award. Sherling is a 2018 Practical Nursing graduate from SRTC who is now pursuing the Associate of Science in Nursing Bridge program. Lori was chosen for the scholarship based on her high academic achievement and her in-field work experience. She will use the scholarship to help cover the cost of her Fall 2019 tuition.

“The world of financial aid programming can be a nebulous one with a myriad of legislative changes in both state and federal statutes occurring annually. GASFAA is a tremendous resource for financial aid professionals to ensure we fully understand the legislation and stay in compliance with the regulations. In the end, the goal is to support students and GASFAA assists us in that preparation. It is truly an honor to be one of the 3 institutions selected to receive the GASFAA Memorial Scholarship,” commented Judi Lovvorn, Executive Director for Financial Aid.

SRTC offers over 155 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get you quickly into your desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia.
