Southern Regional Technical College Renews ASE Education Foundation Accreditation

Posted on

Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recently announced that its Automotive Technology program at the Thomasville Campus has renewed its accreditation from the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation, a nationally recognized master technician certifying agency.

The rigorous accreditation process, completed in December 2025, involved an extensive evaluation of SRTC’s automotive facilities, equipment, curriculum, and instructional quality. The comprehensive inspection ensures that students receive the highest level of automotive technology training available.

"This continued accreditation validates our commitment to providing students with industry-leading education that prepares them for successful careers in automotive service and repair," said Mason Miller, Vice President of Academic Affairs at SRTC. "The ASE Education Foundation sets the gold standard in automotive training, and earning this recognition demonstrates that our Thomasville campus meets the most rigorous professional standards in the field."

During the evaluation, ASE representatives conducted a thorough review that included inspection of modern facilities and operational equipment, verification of comprehensive tool inventories including hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment, detailed examination of curriculum and record-keeping systems, and confirmation of instructor credentials and teaching effectiveness. The inspection also included follow-up assessments with recent program graduates currently working in the automotive industry to verify real-world skill application.

Jamie Parrott, SRTC Automotive Technology faculty and ASE-certified Master Technician with advanced L1 certification, led the program through the accreditation process. "Earning this accreditation again confirms that we are giving our students the highest levels of training possible so that they are prepared to work in this challenging and ever-changing field," Parrott said. "The inspector spent hours reviewing every aspect of our program, from our curriculum to our classroom engagement, ensuring that we meet the standards that the automotive industry demands."

SRTC offers many options for people interested in the Automotive industry, including multiple Technical Certificates of Credit, an Automotive Technology Diploma, and an Automotive Technology Associate Degree. The Automotive Technology Associate Degree program is a five-semester sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in automotive service and repair. The program emphasizes a combination of automotive theory and practical application, with learning opportunities that develop the academic, technical, and professional knowledge required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Program graduates receive an Automotive Technology Associates degree that qualifies them as entry-level technicians.

Southern Regional Technical College offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired careers, and 38 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of its students.
