SRTC to Host Community-wide Career Fair

Organizers of the upcoming 2016 Community Career Resource Fair scheduled to be held in Tifton on Thursday, November 3, are anticipating the event will be a catalyst in transitioning local job hunters into members of a viable workforce.

An estimated 50 local businesses and industries will assemble in the Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) Conference Center at the College’s Tifton location from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for the 2016 Community Career Resource Fair.

SRTC and the Tifton office of the Georgia Department of Labor will join forces to present the event to familiarize the businesses and industries in our region and job hunters with one another.

The event is open to the general public. Whether or not employers have jobs to offer at this time, job seekers will benefit from learning about local companies and what skills they would expect their employees to possess. In turn, businesses may find matches for future employment. Industries expected to be at the fair include healthcare, industrial manufacturing, sales and banking, among others.

“Fall Semester at SRTC ends December 7th, therefore, businesses and industries will have the opportunity to meet the College’s graduating class as well as upcoming Spring semester graduates. If an employer finds a good fit for an employment need, our well-trained, educated graduates will be ready to start work within a few weeks of the career fair,” says Dana Lewis, SRTC Career Services Coordinator.

Additionally, all job seekers are encouraged to bring updated resumes and all information necessary to complete job applications on site. Furthermore, to create a positive impact on employers, Lewis urges participants to “make a great first impression; consider this the first interview with a future employer,” and to come dressed in business professional attire.

Because this is a professional event and space is limited, Lewis says no children or strollers will be permitted.

Among the employers expected to participate in the fair are Athyn Logistics, Atto Partners, LLC ,Avon, Barnes Healthcare Services, Berrien County Board of Education, Coastal Plain Area EOA Head Start, Convergys, Department of Community Supervision, Diversified Enterprises, Easter Seals of Southern Georgia, Englewood Health Care, Flowers Foods, Inc, the Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia Premier Services, Great Clips, Hamilton Relay, Labor Finders, Lowe’s Distribution Center, Lowndes County 911, McDonald’s, MediaCom Communications, MetroPower, Mitchell County Hospital, New Hire Solutions, Papa John’s Pizza, Phoebe Putney Health System, Quality Employment Service, Right from the Start Medicaid / Peachcare for Kids, Sam’s Club, Telamon Corporation, TenderCare, Inc., Turning Point Care Center, US Air Force, US Army, Verizon Wireless, WellCare of Georgia, and many more.
