Tifton SRTC Practical Nursing Class Achieves 100% Pass Rate On Board Exams

Posted on

Summer semester graduates from Southern Regional Technical College’s (SRTC) Practical Nursing (PN) program in Tifton achieved a 100% passage on their National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The NCLEX-PN exam is a standardized exam that each PN graduate must pass to obtain a license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Berkeia Lashae Benton of Albany, Dynisha Lasha Fowler of Adel, Addison Jo Pearson of Oxford, Quinteria Keshauna Hall of Ashburn, Chelsea Dawn Todd of Tifton, Ashlynn K'Marie Howard of Tifton, Samuel Ashton Hornbuckle of Tifton, Kei-Kei Latonya Flucas of Adel, Alexis Leigh Harrison of Tifton, Bailey Rianna Clements of Rochelle, Deidra Nicole White of TyTy, Kimberly Michelle Pitts of Enigma, Macy Logan Strenth of Sylvester, Shaniqua Gabeielle Scott of Sycamore, De'Terrion Damal White of Nashville, and Johnna Danielle Dales of Tifton completed coursework during the summer semester.

The students were pinned in July of 2023 and were eligible to take part in the college’s commencement ceremony on July 27. Each graduate passed their board exam on the first attempt. This 100% first-attempt pass rate is a major accomplishment for this program and its students, as that percentage is well above the national average for nursing programs.

Through academic and occupational coursework, the PN program prepares graduates to give competent nursing care. Through these courses, students learn techniques and gain knowledge to provide competent care. Various clinical experiences, under the guidance of the clinical instructor, are integrated into the curriculum so that theory is put into practice. Program graduates receive a practical nursing diploma and have the qualifications of an entry-level practical nurse.

“These students have overcome many obstacles to be where they are today,” said Practical Nursing faculty Alisha Nugent, RN, CNOR. “They have worked very hard and have held strong to accomplish their dreams! They are very deserving of the recognition!”
