Basic Mechatronics Specialist (470303)  Technical Certificate of Credit

Campus Locations: Moultrie VPC, Tifton, Tift County High School, Cairo High School College and Career Academy, Worth County High School

The Mechatronics Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit provides students with the necessary skills and understanding to perform installation, diagnostics and repair to mechatronic systems and automated equipment. The program focuses on Mechanics, Fluid Power, and Robotics.

Length of Program: Two (2) Semesters

Student Learning Outcomes:
• Students will create and execute a program with an industrial robotic arm to perform a standard pick and place operation.

Entrance Date: Beginning of each semester.

Entrance Requirements: Refer to Admission criteria. Click for Entrance Score Requirements.

Age: Applicant must be 16 years of age or older.

Education: An applicant must be a high school graduate or the equivalent (GED). College transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Advisor: A Program Advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course. An advisor will be assigned by admissions.

Program Final Exit Point: Mechatronics Specialist, Technical Certificate of Credit.

Credits Required for Graduation: 11 minimum semester hour credits required for graduation.

Note: Credits from this program may be applied to a degree or a diploma program.

5.00 Credit Hours Pre-Requisite(s): IDFC 1005 NOTE: Students enrolled in this course are required to complete the capstone level occupational work ethics course during the same term. This course studies basic programmable controller application skills and techniques, and programmable controllers in typical environments as an element of a complex manufacturing cell. Topics also discussed will include the hands-on development of the programming, operation, and maintenance of industrial PLC systems.

4.00 Credit Hours NOTE: Students enrolled in this course are required to complete the entry level occupational work ethics course during the same term. This course introduces the fundamental concepts, principles, and devices involved in industrial motor controls,theories and applications of single and three-phase motors, wiring motor control circuits, and magnetic starters and braking. Topics include, but are not limited to, motor theory and operating principles, control devices, symbols and schematic diagrams, NEMA standards, Article 430 NEC and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
